James Hopps arrived in Marsala in 1801 and after having expressed his organizational and entrepreneurial ability with some of his fellow-countrymen, in 1811 he inaugurated his experience in Sicily land, from where he begun to engage a permanent commercial relationship with England. It arose then the “Jams Hopps & sons” and after some years the marks followed the vicissitude of the family among the Risorgimento, Unità d’Italia and at last the second world war. A story of great names and big fortune, travels through the ocean and illustrious family, all this events have done the story of the wine, of a city and even about Sicily. Grateful for a big tradition, both brothers Giacomo and Fabio had a big and a new dream: to go back to the family roots through the wine, with other experience in Marsala, with the ambition to make a great Sicily wine, DOC or not. They have begun by restoring completely the viticulture screw-cutting die in the family’s farm and realizing a beam of the second half of the eighteenth century, completely restored, a modern factory for the production of the wines.
